The highly regarded Coon Rapids-Bayard basketball teams were winners over Paton-Churdan on Friday night in Rolling Valley Activities Conference action. The Crusaders won the girls’ game 50-4, then captured the boys’ contest by a final of 67-21. The CR-B girls are now 11-2 and the boys have a 13-1 record, while the Rockets fell to 1-14 on the girls’ side and 5-9 for the boys.

Grace Cullum had two points on the only field goal for P-C with one point each by Alivya Smith and Ella Tasler. CR-B led 22-3 at the half and they had eight girls score points in the contest. Malia Clayburg had 13 points for CR-B with Ella Heithoff with 10.

The Crusaders led 43-11 at the half in the boys’ game. For the Rockets, it was their fifth straight loss. Sophomore Trevon Keely had 17 of P-C’s 21 points. Unofficially, Keely had six rebounds with five rebounds and two points from junior Phoenix Hartman and sophomore Bryce Stephenson with two points and three boards. C0ach Josh Cerveny noted the team is still adjusting to not having junior Cayden Stream, who has been out with an injury.
