Last night the West Central Valley Wildcat basketball teams hosted the Madrid Tigers for double header basketball action. The Wildcats split the series with the Tigers, with the Wildcat girls coming out on top 41-27 while the boys fell to Madrid 81-34.
In the girls contest, West Central Valley would take the lead in the first scoring 11 points taking an 11-8 lead going into the second. The Tigers would begin to claw back at the lead, but the Wildcats would hold on and claim the lead going into the halftime break 19-15. Coming back from the break, the Wildcats would begin to run away with the lead, scoring 10 points in the third and 12 in the forth to claim a 41-27 victory over the Madrid Tigers.
In the boys contest the Tigers would begin to run away with the lead in the first, holding the Wildcats to 8 points per quarter while scoring 50 points bringing the halftime score to 50-16. Looking at an uphill battle coming back from the break, West Central Valley would begin to chip away at the Tiger lead, scoring 4 points in the third and 14 in the fourth but unfortunately fell to the to Madrid 81-34.
The Wildcats are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Paton-Churdan High School to take on the Rockets. Basketball action begins with the girls, with tip off scheduled for 6pm.
