FFA members from around the state are preparing for the Sub-District Contests next week.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Advisor Skie Shull is excited that AC/GC is a host site this year. She explains that members not only from AC/GC but around the state have been doing work to be ready for the contest, but that the preparations they make vary with each event. Shull shares that those doing Creed Speaking practice the FFA Creed, while welders practice welding, and that anyone doing ag broadcasting usually practices by listening to local radio and the ag reports. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that those individuals who earn a high enough rating at the sub-district level will move on to districts, and their district site will be held at Greene County High School. She explains some of the categories that are only available at the sub-district contest.

“There are contests that start at the district level, like Experience the Action, some of our middle school contests start there, chapter website. So there are some contests that start at that level, but there are some that you have to qualify from sub-districts.”

Shull mentions that the contests begin at 2:30pm at AC/GC High School on Wednesday February 5th, with each contest center running their schedules. She adds that the events are open to the public to attend.
