The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is in the process of finalizing the 2025-26 school calendar.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe shares that following the January school board meeting, additional adjustments to some of the dates for the next school year are being worked on. He notes that the initial proposed calendar had the first day of school on August 25th, due to the state law of school starting as early as the 23rd, which is a Saturday. Dufoe mentions that the board is hopeful to push the last day of school into May instead of the proposed June date. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the school board does not want to do a complete overhaul of the calendar, as they are satisfied with most of it.

“We love many aspects of our school calendar. There are lots of things that we want to keep, even from this current year, even from the last two or three years, we’ve rolled many things, many facets over that we want to keep. So, we are just attempting to take just a bit of time to see if we can maneuver our calendar.”

Dufoe is confident that the board will be able to work around the obstacles, and anticipates them taking action on the changes at the February meeting.
