
Perry basketball returned to the court last night in Heart of Iowa Conference action. Perry split the night falling in the girls and winning the boys against PCM. The Jayettes losing skid reaches 4 games with the 57-10 loss. The Bluejays jump into sole possession of third place in the HOIC with the 61-47 win.
The 9th ranked Mustangs and top team in the Heart of Iowa used their full court pressure to give the Jayettes problems early and often. PCM scored the first 11 points in the game and never looked back. It was 23-5 at the end of the first. The Jayettes would be held scoreless in the second as the deficit grew to 32, 37-5. The lead ballooned to 46-7 at the end of the third. Final 57-10.
The Bluejays rebounded nicely after Tuesday’s blowout loss to Saydel. Coach Morris’ squad got out to a quick start. Scoring first, yet trailing at the end of the first 21-17. Both offensives would cool down in the second as Perry took a 32-27 lead at half. The Bluejays won the third 13-2 as they extended their lead to 16. Kenney hit a floater in the lane for his 1,000 point early in the fourth quarter as Perry coasted to the 61-47 win.
The Jayettes sit at 4-13 (2-11). Next up Nevada on Tuesday.
The Bluejays improve to 10-6 (8-5). They travel to Atlantic on Saturday.
