
While the majority of the state of Iowa is sitting in moderate drought, portions of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area are improving.
The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that Dallas County is almost out of drought, with the northwest portion abnormally dry, while Guthrie and Greene Counties are most abnormally dry with the eastern parts of each county dealing with moderate drought. According to the National Weather Service, as of January 30th, Perry has accumulated up to 0.20 inches of precipitation for the month, and that is behind its average amount of 0.92; Guthrie Center is showing zero inches of precipitation, when it averages 0.86; and Jefferson is also at zero inches of precipitation, when the normal amount is around 0.92 inches for the month of January.
