Dallas County has seen the numbers dip when it comes to the average agriculture land value in the state of Iowa over the past few years.
According to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Dallas County had an average ag land price of $12,002 per acre in 2024, down $404 from its $12,406 mark in 2023. A press release from the Iowa Land Value Survey states that amongst the most negative factors included land values being at lower commodity prices, long-term interest rates, higher input costs, cash/credit availability, weather, inflation, and an uncertain agricultural future. According to the release, the majority of farmland sales came to 70 percent to existing farmers, four percent to new farmers, 12 percent towards local investors, 11 percent to non-local investors, and three percent were accounted for by other purchasers.
