Today is the 48th Annual Bike Ride to Rippey and it features lots of activities.

Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio that nearly 600 riders will be traveling a total distance of 25 miles from Perry to Rippey and back. The group sendoff begins at 10am, as people still wanting to register can do so until 1pm. She reassures participants that the Perry Fire Department will be attending to riders and Kyle’s Bikes will be on hand to assist with any equipment issues. There will be musical entertainment at The Proletariat in Perry from 1pm-midnight. Pasutti invites riders to enjoy the journey as they venture through the two cities.

“We encourage people to stop at the pit-stop before they even get to Rippey and then, of course, stop in Rippey and get some food, fuel up, there’s a DJ there, and come on back. Thanks to some volunteers, we have a sag-wagon. It’s a fun ride, it’s meant to be a fun ride, but we want to keep everyone safe too.”

Pasutti reminds motorists to avoid the route until approximately 3pm. The route in Perry starts on Willis Avenue and 2nd Street, then to Bateman Street, left on 3rd Street to Park Street, where riders will turn left to 1st Avenue before heading out of town. The route to Rippey will be along Berkley instead of Highway 144 to alleviate issues with the motoring traffic. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will make an appearance from 8-11am.
