A warrant is going to be issued following a chase through parts of Jefferson on Sunday.
Police Chief Mark Clouse says an officer conducted a traffic stop on North Mulberry Street on Sunday afternoon before 4pm for a vehicle that had a non-functioning brake light. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that while the vehicle was stopped, a passenger got out and the driver took off. Clouse considers the incident to be a low-speed chase, where the alleged suspect’s vehicle never went above the speed limit and the driver stopped at all posted stop signs.
Clouse notes that the chase ended at the driver’s home, when the driver stopped the vehicle in the driveway. He says because the driver was not compliant with verbal commands from the officer, a service weapon was drawn as part of their protocols, but was never used. Clouse points out as the driver was being taken into custody, he was suffering a medical issue and was taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance.
Clouse states that an arrest warrant will be issued for some charges that includes eluding, and once the driver is released from the hospital, he will be apprehended and booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
