Last night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs boys wrestling team hosted the Little Hawkeye Conference meet. While the Mustangs would fall to Indianola overall in the team scores, Dallas Center-Grimes found great success on the mat with one 3rd place finish, five 2nd place finishes, and two 1st place finishes. Avery Van Zelderen would place 1st at 120 while Ayden Beck would place 1st at 132.
Ryan Pertzsch would be the lone 3rd place finish for the Mustangs at 285. Noah Kerndt, Blake Forrester, Nick Esser, Kellen Wegner, and Tyde Nelsen would all place 2nd for the Mustangs. At 120, Avery Van Zelderen would defeat Sawyer Nelson of Indianola by decision 12-9 to bring home the gold alongside Ayden Beck at 132 who defeated Kaiden Parker of Oskaloosa by major decision 13-1.
The Mustangs placed 3rd overall as a team with 202.5 team points and finished with one 3rd place finish, five 2nd place finishes, and two 1st place finishes.
