A Scranton man was recently arrested for an alleged assault incident from December.

According to court documents, The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and a Jefferson Police Officer responded to a call of an assault at a rural property near Scranton on December 19th. Court documents show that the victims told law enforcement that 24-year-old Kolbe Hunter, who was living in Carroll at the time, had threatened and chased them with a knife. Hunter was eventually found in a shop area of a nearby property.

The criminal complaint shows that Hunter was advancing on law enforcement while holding the knife. Court documents indicate that after verbal attempts failed for the suspect to drop the knife, Hunter grabbed a sheet of plywood as a shield to block taser attempts. Court documents state that law enforcement eventually struck Hunter with their tasers, which forced the suspect to drop the knife and put it out of his reach. Court documents detail that Hunter grabbed the plywood again and Sheriff Jack Williams advanced and pinned Hunter to a wall. Then as Hunter was resisting being taken to the ground, two more taser carriages were used to finally subdue Hunter.

One of the victims was taken to Greene County Medical Center to be treated for injuries from the knife. An arrest warrant was issued on December 27th charging Hunter with two Class D Felonies for assault while displaying a weapon on persons in certain occupations and willful injury-causing bodily injury, and an aggravated misdemeanor for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. There is also a no contact order in place with the victims. Hunter was arrested on February 5th in Scranton, and was booked and released from the Greene County Jail under his own recognizance.
