The AC/GC Chargers hit the road for a couple of wins Friday night against the Pleasantville Trojans.
The girls game started off good for the Chargers as they jumped to a 16-7 lead, but the Trojans made a bit of a comeback in the second, and AC/GC went into halftime up 28-20. The Chargers switched up their defense when they came back to the court, and limited the Trojans on scoring, finishing the third quarter up 43-25, and ending the game with the 58-33 victory.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game went to Camdyn Richter, who started off slow in the first half, but was able to get open in the second half and make several shots while also hauling down plenty of rebounds throughout the game. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game went to a drive and make by Shay Lemke, who spun one way around the first defender, then another to get in the lane to put up the shot.
For the boys game, the Chargers started off strong, but after a quick run by the Trojans ended the first quarter down 12-9. The lead ended up growing for Pleasantville in the second quarter, and AC/GC was down 29-21 at the end of the first half. The Chargers pulled up their boot straps in the third quarter though, and ended the third quarter leading 38-37. They were able to extend the lead due to a couple great plays at the end of the quarter, and finished with the 55-50 victory.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game went to Payton Policky, who struggled to get started in the first half, but utterly dominated his space in the second, making all of his points, and helping the team keep the lead in the final seconds with an amazing play. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game was that amazing play, a block on the three point attempt from the Trojans star sophomore, then a quick dish to Jathan South so that they could draw the foul, where South put up the two free throws to put the Chargers up by five.
The Chargers return to action Tuesday, as they head to Madrid to face off against the Tigers.
