
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams were in action on Friday, splitting the games including a huge outing with Tigers Hudson Lorensen.
ADM girls fell 53-47, while the boys avenged their one point loss earlier in the season, winning 72-67. In the girls game, junior Madelyn Roundcount was inserted back into the lineup after being out for the past three weeks due to cracked ribs. Gilbert got out to a quick start, leading 19-12 after the first quarter. ADM limited Gilbert to eight points in the second quarter, scoring 10 of their own, and trailed 27-22 at the half. ADM outscored Gilbert 13-7 in the third quarter to lead 35-34 to head to the fourth. In the final frame, Gilbert was able to rack off 19 points to go on to a 53-47 win.
Gilbert was led by sophomore Kayla Rash with 15 points, followed by senior Mollie Schnormeier, who had 14, and senior Ella Henningsen with 12 points. On ADM’s side, sophomore Alexis Maxwell had 21 points to lead all scores, then it was six points from junior Brecken Morse, and five points from senior Kelli Storck, who fouled out. Gilbert improves to 11-8 overall (7-4 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and ADM drops to 12-8 (8-6 RRC).
In the boys game, ADM was trying to bounce back after losing 68-67 the first time to Gilbert on January 7th. Gilbert jumped out to a 19-13 lead following the first quarter, but ADM responded with 20 points in the second to lead 33-29 at the halftime break. Gilbert came out the second half outscoring ADM 23-18 to take a 52-51 advantage into the final quarter. In the fourth, ADM held Gilbert to 15 points, while scoring 21 to win the game 72-67.
It was a season high for ADM junior Hudson Lorensen as he erupted for 37 points. Junior Trey Bryte contributed with 14 and it was senior Cade Fisher with 10 points. Gilbert’s senior Brody Hague poured in 35 of his own in the loss, followed by 18 points from junior Preston Stensland and seven points from junior Gabe Fierce. ADM moves to 14-4 overall (11-3 RRC) and Gilbert falls to 11-7 (9-5 RRC).
Gilbert will be back at home on Tuesday to host Bondurant-Farrar, while ADM is traveling to Boone on Tuesday for their next game.
