
On Friday night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs basketball team traveled to Indianola High School and picked up the sweep on the road. The Mustang girls defeated the Indians 56-32 advancing to 15-4 while the Dallas Center-Grimes boys advance to 12-5 after defeating Indianola 64-55.
In the girls contest, the Mustangs had a slow start but stayed right behind the Indians 11-9. Down by three, the Mustangs would pick it up in the second, scoring 12 points while their defense would lock in on Indianola holding the Indians to only 3 points. Coming back from the break holding a 21-14, DCG would begin to walk away with the lead, holding Indianola to only 18 points in the entire second half while scoring 35 points of their own to claim a 56-32 victory.
For the Mustang boys contest, Dallas Center-Grimes would take the lead in the first and never looked back, scoring 19 points in the first half while holding the Indians to 12. The Mustang defense would continue to hold on, only allowing 16 points while scoring 20 to claim a halftime lead of 39-28 holding an 11 point lead. Coming back in the third, both teams would score 11 points so Dallas Center-Grimes continued to hold on to the lead scoring 16 points in the final quarter to claim a 64-55 victory.
The Mustang girls now sit at 15-4 while the boys advance to 12-5. Dallas Center-Grimes is back in action at Pella Christian on Tuesday. Girls tip off is set to begin 6pm with action on KDLS2.
