Non-profit organizations looking to get some help with projects in Greene County need to submit their grant applications by the end of this week.
Greene County Community Foundation President Karen Shannon says grant applications are due by 4pm on Friday to either Home State Bank or online via their website and the fillable pdf. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the community foundation fulfills projects for non-profit groups up to $35,000, with a 25 percent match from the organization that is applying. Shannon is expecting around the same amount to give away as last year, about $275,000, when they granted 22 of 30 applications, which requested over $400,000 in 2024. She believes there continues to be a need for non-profits to do good work for their causes.
“Never in all of the years I’ve been a part of the community foundation have we had more than enough money. There’s always some that we have to unfortunately say ‘no’ to, and if we have had said no to you in the past, you know maybe that’s something that could come around again this year.”
Shannon adds that $175,000 of their funding comes from the non-gaming license holder, Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, and the other approximate $100,000 is from the community foundation’s endowment fund, of which they can reach up to five percent to use for additional grants. Shannon encourages anyone with questions regarding their grant applications, can reach out to the community foundation’s email, greeneccf@gmail.com.
