A fire Tuesday afternoon destroyed a home in Linden.
Redfield Assistant Fire Chief Wes Bosier told Raccoon Valley Radio they responded to the fire in the 300 block of South Main Street in Linden at 11:11am Tuesday. He said when they arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames, and about half of the structure was destroyed. Bosier revealed that as fire crews were putting out the flames, they could hear several one pound propane tanks exploding inside the building. He pointed out that sparks from the home fire were catching a nearby field on fire and it also jumped south into a ditch.
Bosier noted that there were four occupants in the home that got out without injuries. He said Panora and Dexter Fire Departments assisted with mutual aid with water trucks. Bosier added that they were on scene for about four hours and the home is a total loss. He stated that the cause is undetermined due to the extent of the damage in the accidental fire. Bosier said Dallas County Emergency Management is assisting the family. Dallas County and Redfield EMS and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
