Greene County ended the basketball regular season on Tuesday night in Jewell vs. South Hamilton in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader. The Hawks won the girls’ game and the Rams took the boys contest. The girls’ score was 57-21 and the final in the boys’ game was 93-57. Both games were broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams are 0-22 in girls’ basketball while SH improved to 6-15. In the HOIAC, the Rams finished 0-16 while the Hawks went 5-11. Greene County was led in scoring by sophomore Makenna Ebersole with 16 points. Coach Tori Ogden’s team plays at Washington High in Cherokee on Saturday night at 7 to begin Class 3A postseason play. The boys from Greene County were led in scoring by sophomore Lincoln Schwander with 18 points off the bench, a career high for him. The Rams scored 53 points above their season average and improved to 4-18 overall and 2-14 in the conference with both wins over the Hawks, who are 0-21, 0-16. Junior Nick Madsen scored 13 points with 12 each by senior Camden Jacobs and junior Broc Stream, and junior Teagan Chisholm added 10 points. The win snapped a losing streak of 11 games for the Rams.

Greene County opens boys’ 2A district 12 basketball in Pleasantville vs. the host Trojans on Monday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
