
The AC/GC Chargers were on the road Tuesday night, facing off against the Madrid Tigers.
The Chargers girls started off strong, going up 25-7 at the end of the first quarter, and extending to a 40-10 lead at halftime. Both teams scored low in the third, with the Chargers keeping a 46-14 lead, and in the final quarter the team extended the lead to finish the game with the 51-17 victory. The Crafty’s Coffee and gifts player of the game was Shay Lemke, who in unofficial statistics had eight of the over 20 steals from the Chargers for the night. The Dub P Apparel was an assist from Lemke off a three-quarter court pass to Karli Kautzky.
The Chargers boys came into the night looking for a share of the conference title. The first quarter ended with AC/GC down 13-9, and at halftime they were down 32-25. The Chargers had a strong showing in the first half of the third quarter, but the Tigers went on a run, and kept a 53-36 lead. AC/GC tried mounting a push in the fourth, but unfortunately were unable to close the gap, and finished the game with a 68-49 loss, only their second loss on the season. The Crafty’s Coffee Player of the Game Nomination went to the Chargers starting lineup for never giving up even when in foul trouble and trailing. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the game came from a drive by Tommy Skram, who put a lot of english on the roll for his layup.
