The Dallas County Conservation Board is gearing up for a fun program tomorrow for adults centered around the month of love.

According to Naturalist Erica Northwick, the board is inviting adults over the age of 21 to Voas Nature Area, 19286 Lexington Road, in Minburn to venture on a Valentine Hike from 5-6pm. She notes that the theme of the hike is courtship and weird romances of nature, and she will teach participants how wildlife adapts to the winter time, how animals communicate with each other, the scientific definitions of the reproduction process, and more. Northwick reveals that the event was done last year with many people coming out, and says that the event offers a great way to build relationships with other adults.

“We can have casual conversations between naturalists and participants, but also between the people themselves, and you have a chance to meet new people that you haven’t before. We’re all out there, we all want to learn some stuff, we all like being outside, and it’s a really cool way to make some new connections in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.”

Northwick illustrates that the hike will still happen with the predicted snow. However, if there is a snow storm, blizzard warnings, or hazardous conditions, then the event will be canceled. The hike is free to adults 21 years and older, with registration strongly encouraged to receive notifications about the weather. To sign up for the Valentine Hike, click here.
