Last night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs traveled to Pella Christian High School for double header basketball action against the Eagles. The Mustangs would clean house at Pella Christian, with the girls picking up a 56-43 victory while the boys picked up a 73-52 win. Macy Meyer would have an electrifying game attacking the paint while Luke Lorenzen would have a hug dunk in the second for the Mustangs.

For the girls, the first quarter would be a bit of a slow start between the Mustangs and the Eagles, as they remained tied at 4  for the first three minutes of the quarter. The Mustangs would score 10 more points to take the lead 14-9 going into the second. Pella Christians’ defense would fire up in the second, but the Mustang offense would fire up as well scoring 13 points to hold the lead at halftime, 27-19. Meyer would end the first half with 9 points and would continue to dominate the paint in the second half. The Eagles would fire up in the third, outscoring the Mustangs 12-11 but the Mustangs would hold onto a 31-28 lead going into the final quarter. Macy Meyer would continue to dominate the paint, alongside Smid with multiple steals to bring the Mustangs to a 56-43 victory over Pella Christian as Meyer would end the night with 20 points.

In the boys contest, Tate Perrin and Mateo Dzolota would have an electrifying first half as both would go into halftime with 11 points. Dzolota would attack the paint in the first helping the Mustangs take a 23-15 lead at the end of the first. The Perrin brothers would attack from three as Chase would also have a big first half scoring 9 points, helping the Mustangs continue establishing their lead at 45-33 going into the halftime break. Coming back from the half, Dallas Center-Grimes would begin to run away with the lead as Tate Perrin would make 3 big threes in the third bringing the final score to 73-52 in favor of Dallas Center-Grimes.

The Mustangs have double header basketball action at home on Friday night as the Mustangs play host to the Pella Dutch. The girls go to battle first with tip off set for 6pm with coverage on KDLS2 beginning at 5:45pm.
