Last night the West Central Valley Wildcat basketball teams played host to the Woodward-Granger Hawks and unfortunately fell to the Hawks in both battles. The Wildcat girls put up a good fight, falling to Woodward-Granger by only 3 points, 37-34. The Wildcat boys found themselves in a tough battle, falling to the Hawks 48-19.

The girls match between the Wildcats and the Hawks would be a back and forth battle in the first half. The Wildcats would stay on the Hawks heels in the first, down 11-8 to start the second quarter. The Wildcat defense would shine in the second, holding Woodward-Granger to only 5 points to take a 21-15 lead. The Hawks would come out on fire in the third, scoring 16 points while holding the Wildcats to 4 to take a 30-25 lead. West Central Valley would outscore the Hawks 9-5 in the fourth but would find themselves down by three in the end as Woodward-Granger claimed a 37-34 lead.

For the boys, the first quarter would be a close battle as West Central Valley would stay with the Hawks. With the score at 12-7 in favor of Woodward-Granger, the Hawks would light up in the second quarter, scoring 17 points while holding Wildcats to only 2 points in the second. With the score at 29-9, the Wildcats would continue to battle but would not seem to find an answer against the Hawks, scoring 4 in the third and 7 in the fourth falling to Woodward-Granger 48-19.

This ends the regular season for the Wildcat girls at 14-8 while the Wildcat boys fall to 5-16. The Wildcat girls are back in action next week for regional basketball action against Woodward-Granger with tip off set for 7pm.
