The Adel City Council met in regular session on Tuesday.
According to Adel Mayor Jim Peters, the meeting started by honoring Adel Police School Resource Officer Monte Keller for his 25 years of service. Then the council heard several presentations, starting with the Regional Community Integration President Tiffany Tauscheck and Director Alex Lynch on the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry Board of Director Carole Erickson-Schepers, and an annual report on the Adel Historic Preservation Commission from Member Rich Hughes.
Items on the agenda that were approved included the addition of two designated handicap parking spaces on 9th Street and Main Street, two resolutions authorizing a lease agreement amendment between the City of Adel and the Adel De-Soto Soccer Club, as well as the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Youth Football League; and a resolution to award a construction contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Laboratory and Administration Building project in the amount of $1,093,310 to Edge Commercial in Grimes. The council ended the meeting by setting a public hearing for the proposed property tax levies and new taxpayer statements for March 24th at 6pm at Adel City Hall.
