The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.

The Board approved two school driving permits for Aiden Clark and Haylee Best, and they set the public hearing for the 2025-26 school calendar for March 12th at 5:15pm. The proposed calendar includes the start date of August 25th and the last day of school for students on May 29th. The Board also approved the summer project list not to exceed $478,888 which includes one minivan, two surburbans, dirt work for the high school practice fields, an upgrade to the sound system at the high school gym, replacing the older windows at the middle school, as well as the heat pumps and carpet for the elementary school.

Additionally, the Board approved an agreement with Raccoon River Lawn Care for $55,200 for field maintenance and lawn care. Finally, the Board reviewed the District Career and Academic Plan with Curriculum and Special Education Director Karen Sandberg. She said this is a requirement from the state to develop one and have an advisory board review it every year. Sandberg noted the reason for this is to give kids in the school district experiences to gain better knowledge about themselves and what they want to do next, followed by the school district providing career opportunities and interest that sets them up for success after high school.
