A business within the Perry city limits was destroyed in a fire that was ignited Saturday morning.

According to Perry Fire Chief Grason Hill, a fire broke out around 10:30am at the BTWI Headquarters in rural Perry. He believes that the flames began in the northeast corner of the building as there was a big wooden stove with several logs of wood in it. Hill confirmed that no one was in the building at the time of the fire, but that the building itself as well as a nearby semi-trailer full of equipment was considered a total loss.

Hill adds that assisting the Perry Fire Department on the scene was the Yale, Jamaica, and Bagley Fire Department, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and the Dallas County Dispatch.
