A Des Moines man was recently sentenced to seven years in prison for a high speed chase in Greene County in July of 2024 while in possession of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, 45-year-old Mark Dugan II pled guilty to a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine, and two aggravated misdemeanors for eluding and his second offense for an OWI. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the felony conviction and two years in prison for the misdemeanor for eluding, which the two sentences are to be served consecutively for a total of seven years. Dugan was also sentenced to two years in prison for the other misdemeanor, which was to be served concurrently.
The charges stemmed from a high speed chase that started in Greene County and ended in Dallas County on July 7th when a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy saw Dugan driving recklessly and failing to maintain control. During the chase, law enforcement saw Dugan toss a baggie out of his vehicle that contained methamphetamine.
