This Saturday is the annual Greene County Cattlemen’s Association Banquet and Trophy Auction.

The event will be held at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds starting with a social time at 5pm, followed by a ribeye steak dinner with sides catered by Jefferson Hy-Vee at 6pm. The trophy and scholarship auction follow the meal where the funds that are raised go toward several scholarships to graduating high school seniors, along with other various causes.

Last year, the auction brought in $27,150 and the annual traveling trophy, which is in honor of the business or organization that donates the most money, went to M & W Ag Supply. Some of the causes were that Greene County Cattlemen’s Association gave funds to include the food pantry in Jefferson, with the most recent donation of $3,000 to the Greene County Action Resource Center that came from the first-ever steak sandwich fundraiser and they gave $3,000 to the Greene County 4-H Foundation for youth projects. They also continued another tradition of donating stocking hats and gloves to all of the fourth grades in the entire county.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 per person and are available from any Greene County Cattlemen member or at the door.
