An athlete from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Bowling team has made school history by advancing to the state tournament.

ADM competed in the Class 2A Iowa High School Athletic Association Bowling State Qualifying Meet on Tuesday in Newton, where they placed seventh as a team and junior Cole Darling scored well enough to move onto state. The Tigers were able to rack up 2820 points as a team, beating out Bondurant-Farrar and Des Moines Hoover. Darling was able to finish in second place bowling a total of 749 pins, right behind Oskaloosa’s Trey VanWyk with 753.

ADM is in its inaugural year of bowling after partnering with Waukee Schools for the past numerous years and Darling is the first male in school history to qualify for state. Earlier this week, freshman Alabama Astley was the first female to do so. Both Tiger athletes will be competing at state, which will be held at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo from Monday to Wednesday.
