
The AC/GC Chargers boys basketball team took on the Audubon Wheelers Thursday night.
The Chargers led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, and 29-15 going into the halftime break. AC/GC picked up where they left off in the third quarter, gaining a 46-24 lead, and finished the game with the 57-32 victory. The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game was Jathan South, who led the Chargers in scoring with 19 points, all while being face guarded the entire night with the referees allowing a more physical game on both sides. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game came in the second quarter, after South was able to pick a pass by the Wheelers, heaved the ball up the court in an almost full court pass to Joe Crawford, who lasered the ball across the lane to Tommy Skram for the score. The team will face off against the IKM-Manning Wolves next Tuesday in the Substate final in their bracket, making the trip to Audubon as the neutral site.
The Chargers girls will be in action tonight, as they host the Central Decatur Cardinals. For the Chargers, Camdyn Richter leads in points and rebounds with 15.7 and 7.3 respectively, while Shay Lemke leads in assists with 5.8. For the Cardinals, Breegan Lindsey leads in points and rebounds, with 10.5 and 8.3 respectively, while Makenna Perkins leads in assists with 3.6. Tipoff is set for 7pm, with the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network to broadcast live on the KKRF2 online live stream with pregame coverage to begin in the half hour before the game.
