Three individuals from Perry recently participated in a basketball competition at the state level in the first half of February.
Perry took Veda Iben, Will Adair, and Pierce Menke to the State Elks Hoop Shoot Contest in Ottumwa on February 8th. According to Perry Elks Contest Director Travis Landgrebe, Iben competed in the 8-9 years old division for girls, Adair was in the 8-9 years old category for boys, and Menke was in the 12-13 age division for the boys.
Landgrebe shares that Menke had an opportunity to get first place as he went into a second round tiebreaker, where he proceeded to knock down four out of five free throws and the other contestant was able to hit all five free throws to advance to the national competition.
He states that Menke finished in second place with Iben and Adair garnering third place respectively in their age divisions. Although none of them will be going to Chicago, Illinois for nationals, Landgrebe couldn’t be more proud for how they represented Perry.
