It’s hard to imagine warmer temperatures right now, but the Greene County Farmers Market is underway with its planning for the year.
Jean Walker is the coordinator of the Greene County Farmers Market as it begins a new era at the Greene County Fairgrounds this year. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio there will be a vendor meeting on Sunday at Clover Hall on the fairgrounds from 4-6pm. Walker explains the purpose of the meeting is to inform returning and potential new vendors about the new rules and regulations of the market with it being in a new location this year, along with vendor fees and spaces.
Walker states that she was interested in helping out the farmers market again with the changes that are going to be implemented and with the Greene County Fairboard being the new host. She believes the fairgrounds is a great spot to have the market, with restrooms and plenty of parking available, along with a building to house the market if there is inclement or really hot temperatures. Walker points out that there will continue to be freshly cooked meals for people to enjoy and some entertainment or background music to create a laid back environment, along with purchasing locally grown or crafted items from vendors.
Walker invites vendors who want to sell vegetables, fruits, baked goods, honey, fresh meat and handcrafted items to attend Sunday’s meeting. She adds that if someone can’t be at the meeting but is interested in being a vendor to contact her via email at kjwalkr@wccta.net or by calling 515-370-1905.
