The Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group All-State Festival is happening today, as students from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn will be in attendance.
Following the State Large Speech Contest at Waukee High School on February 8th, ADM was able to have three of their entries including reader’s theatre, group improvisation, and choral reading performances nominated for All-State.
Speech Coach Jacque Seidl shares that choral reading is taking the stage today at 1:54pm at CY Stephens Auditorium on the campus of Iowa State University, but reader’s theatre and group improv are in the non-performing category. Sophomore Caleb Klassen, who is reader’s theatre and group improvisation, reveals it’s his first year in large group speech after he was inspired by a different competition last year.
“I actually volunteered at the individual contest last year and it looked like a lot of fun, so I joined.”
Senior Tate Truitt, who is also in group improv as well as choral reading, is anticipating soaking in the experience, especially with other schools.
“I’m really excited to see other improv groups. It’s the best event in speech, in my opinion, and All-State is amazing.”
Seidl invites everyone to their lone performance at the All-State Festival.
