
Even with recent snowfall in the state of Iowa, the three counties within the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area are still dealing with dry conditions.
The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that all of Dallas County is abnormally dry, while the eastern half of Greene County is abnormally dry and the western portion is in moderate drought, and Guthrie County is sitting mostly in moderate drought with the southeast corner abnormally dry.
According to National Weather Service, as of February 21st, Perry has seen 5.5 inches of new snow amounting to 0.28 inches of precipitation, behind the normal average of 0.84 for the month; Jefferson has received 5.7 inches of new snow totaling 0.50 inches of precipitation when it normally sees 0.91 inches in February; and Guthrie Center has witnessed 3.5 inches of new snow accumulating to 0.20 inches of precipitation, and the monthly average is 0.76 inches.
