Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School represented well at the boys state wrestling tournament, getting a medal finisher.

ADM took four athletes to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines for the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Championships. The wrestlers included junior Grayson Sutter (138 lbs.), sophomore Ethan Johnson (144 lbs.), senior Jon Hatchitt (190 lbs.), and senior Karver Sutton (215 lbs.). Hatchitt was able to garner eighth place after he fell to Muscatine’s Andy Franke by a technical fall (19-3) in the seventh place match on Saturday.

Sutter lost his opening match to Des Moines East’s Camron Bennet by a 9-7 decision, then was defeated by Waukee’s Lincoln Miller by a 6-0 decision. Johnson won his initial match against North Scott’s Kepler Carmichael by a 7-2 decision, then was beat by Indianola’s Ryan Young by a 9-4 decision, followed by a win by fall (5:24) over Western Dubuque’s Will Casey, before ultimately losing to Bettendorf’s Duncan Harn by a fall (26 seconds).

Meanwhile, Sutton lost to Dowling Catholic’s Kade Krause in the first match by a 8-1 decision, then beat out Linn-Mar’s Holden Heidemann by a fall (4:33), and was defeated by Waukee Northwest’s Brayden Williams by a 5-4 decision.

Hatchitt’s eighth place mark give’s ADM its first Class 3A State place winner. Hatchitt and Sutton participated in their final high school wrestling competition as they will both graduate in the spring. The full results from the Tigers for the state tournament can be found below.
