Perry girls wrestling had their season end earlier this month.  Mercedes Ponce had a team high 41 wins in her final year.  The 105 pounder finished in 7th place at the State Tournament earlier this month in Coralville.  The senior took the top spot on the podium in seven different Invites this season.  Mercedes had been a staple for Jayettes wrestling in the first three years of its inception.  She also qualified for the State Meet in each of those years.

Ponce joined the 100 win club during the State Qualifying Meet at Colfax-Mingo.  That was one of the seven tournaments Mercedes won in the weight class of 105.
