West Central Valley’s Zach Teague made his way to the podium at the boys state wrestling tournament as he claimed 8th taking home a medal for the Wildcats.  Teague would travel to the Wells Fargo Arena alongside fellow senior Nathan Bentler, as the two long representatives for West Central Valley at the state tournament.

Teague would have some hard battles throughout the 285 weight class, receiving a bye in his first round then have an electric start to his state performance, defeating Will Howes by fall in 40 seconds. Teague would go to the all the way to the final period against Trenton Warner of Nodaway Valley but would lose by fall in 5:36 in the quarterfinals moving him to the consolation side of the bracket. Zach would go on to win his first consolation match by fall 28 seconds advancing from the blood round but would fall to Jacob Bishop from Hinton in a tough battle by fall 3:32. In the tough fight with Bishop, Teague would suffer a leg injury in the second period and continue throughout the match, but this would lead to his to medically forfeit his next match claiming 8th place at the state tournament.

With this, Teague earned his 8th place medal and represents West Central Valley at the state tournament in his final season wrestling for the Wildcats.
