The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball team won an exciting game Monday night to secure a spot in the state tournament for the first time in over a decade.

ADM defeated Pella 52-46 in the Class 3A Region 7 Championship game. The game was tight throughout as neither team led by more than six points, with the Dutch taking a 13-10 advantage after the first. Pella extended the lead in the second quarter as they possessed a 27-22 lead into the halftime locker room. The Tigers would outscore the Dutch 15-11 to climb within one, 38-37 heading into the final frame. ADM scored 15 more points, holding Pella to eight to win the game 52-46, advancing to the state tournament after a 13 year drought.

The Tigers were charged by junior Hudson Lorensen, who had 24 points, going 10-10 from the free throw line, and also eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in his career. ADM also had eight points from junior Hudson Shull and senior Cade Fisher contributed with eight. Pella had 11 from junior Harrison Mullens, then 10 points from junior David Garner, and six from senior Colin Kerndt.

The Dutch’s season ends at 18-7, while the Tigers improve to 21-4 and will move onto the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines to face off against Storm Lake this coming Monday at 7:15pm.
