Last week’s conversation from the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, D.C. ended with quite a few dramatics.

President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met for almost an hour and US Senator Chuck Grassley thought that the first 50 minutes went very really between the two country leaders trying to put an end to a now three year war between Ukraine and Russia. However, Grassley thought the last five minutes where Zelenskyy was seen upset and walked out of the White House abruptly, he could have done without.

Grassley emphasizes that Russia invaded Ukraine and he shares his thoughts about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Putin kills all of his political opposition, he’s a dictator, he kidnaps Ukrainian kids, he bombs hospitals in violation of international law, the International Court of Crimes he labeled him a war criminal. It’s pretty difficult to take up the side of Putin for me.”

Grassley admits he met with President Zelenskyy in a hotel near the White House prior to the Ukrainian President meeting with Trump and says one of the senators in that meeting suggested not having television cameras in the Oval Office so that there could be more of an honest discussion. He adds that he sides with Ukraine in that he respects when the country gave up its nuclear arms in 1994 and with the Budapest Agreement between the US and Russia, the two nations guaranteed the sovereignty of Ukraine.
