Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Adair County Clover Kids are collecting plastic bags again this year.
Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the groups are looking to collect even more bags this year than they did last year, and that they really wanted to do this project again because of the fun they had with it last year. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they are looking to collect 400 pounds of plastic bags this year, and what will happen if they do.
“This will provide two picnic tables for the Adair County Fairgrounds, and we’re hoping to have those collected and tables delivered before (the) fair this July.”
Savage mentions that those looking to turn in bags to the Extension can do so during their business hours, which are 8am to 5pm. She adds that only clean shopping bags like what you would get from a grocery store will be accepted, no bread bags, sandwich or Ziploc bags.
