The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference had three champions and five wrestlers in the Class 2A finals at the 2025 State finals in Des Moines recently. The league had the 157 lbs. State Champ in Brent Dennhardt of Greene County, plus a pair of West Marshall (State Center) individuals in Uriah Courter (113 lbs.) and Shane Hanford (150). Two PCM (Monroe) wrestlers finished as State Tournament runners-up.
Kirk Davis of Greene County talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the rise of the HOIAC. “It’s getting very competitive. You’re not seeing what I would call super solid terms from top to bottom lineups because we all deal with our kind of weaker weights, as well as forfeits. But, every one of the teams seem to have some individuals that are just really, really high level kids, and many times when you get that in your room, others aspire to that high level, as do kids that aren’t even in high school yet.”
Coach Davis announced his retirement from coaching wrestling after 33 years on one level or another. He’s been the head coach of the Rams for two seasons and was a Greene County assistant coach prior to that.
