Aden Bardole, Randa Linberg and Grey O'Connor are on today's Let's Talk Greene Co program promoting the musical

Later this week will be the Spring musical with the Greene County High School.

Vocal Director Dave Heupel says the Little Mermaid is happening this weekend at the high school auditorium. Freshman Grey O’Connor is playing one of Ursula’s eels, Jetsom, and she tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she wasn’t nervous for the auditions because she has done plays and musicals before, but when she got the role of Jetsom she explains how she embraced the character.

“Jetsom’s kind of like, he’s an evil-ish character and I’m not really an evil person, I don’t think. But I’ve been told I’m kind of sarcastic and I kind of get an attitude, so I kind of just embody that in the character. I don’t really make him as much evil as I do just sassy and kind of annoying.”

Junior Aden Bardole plays the seagull Scuttle and was heavily involved in the set design and led the set building team. He talks about some of the obstacles that his team have had to overcome.

“We’ve got a few challenges, just moving stuff backstage, getting people accustomed to when set pieces need to go on (including) during a scene, before a scene, in between scenes, all that stuff. We had a little bit of trouble figuring out how to make some special effects happen during the show. But what we’ve done, it looks pretty cool and it’ll be really exciting to see.”

The performances are Friday and Saturday at 7pm and on Sunday is a 2pm matinee. Tickets can be purchased online via Bound for $15 per person. Click here to purchase tickets.
