Two AC/GC Chargers girls basketball players and their coach were named to the Class 2A Southwest All District Team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Senior Shay Lemke and Junior Camdyn Richter were both named to the team, with impressive stat lines as proof of why they should be there. Lemke started in all 24 of the team’s games, with a 29.6% field goal percentage on 91 of 307 shooting, 24.2% three point percentage on 43 of 178 shooting, and a 67.3% free throw percentage on 35 of 52 shooting. She also collected 36 offensive rebounds, and 53 defensive rebounds for a total of 89, 135 assists (fourth in Class 2A), 129 steals (2nd in Class 2A), four blocks and 260 points. Lemke averaged 3.7 rebounds per game, 5.6 assists (5th in Class 2A), 5.4 steals (2nd in Class 2A), an assist to turnover ratio of 1.39 and 10.8 points per game.
Richter also started all 24 of the team’s games, going 53.6% from the field on 141 of 263 shooting, 36% from beyond the arch on nine of 25 shooting, and 74.5% from the charity stripe on 70 of 94 shooting. She also collected 108 offensive rebounds (5th in Class 2A) and 66 defensive rebounds for a total of 174, 24 assists, 72 steals, 19 blocks and 361 points. Richter averaged 4.5 offensive and 2.8 defensive rebounds for a total of 7.2, one assists, three steals, an assist to turnover ratio of 1.5 and 15 points per game.
Chargers Girls Basketball Head Coach Brad Baudler was named the IGCA Class 2A Southwest All District Coach of the Year. He led the team to a record of 22-2, the team’s best finish in program history. The Chargers recorded a field goal percentage of 36.9% on 487 of 1,320 shooting, 23.8% three point percentage on 122 of 512 shooting from beyond the arch, and 63.7% free throw percentage. They also secured 359 offensive rebounds (Tied for 1st in Class 2A) and 414 defensive rebounds for a total of 773, 353 assists, 452 steals (1st in Class 2A), 52 blocks and 1,303 points. The Chargers averaged 15 offensive rebounds (1st in Class 2A) and 17.2 defensive rebounds for a total of 32.2, 14.7 assists, 18.8 assists (2nd in Class 2A), 2.2 blocks and 54.3 points per game.
