The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball team is going to the state tournament, and Head Coach Trevor Mickelson expresses his jubilation for the squad.

ADM was named the Class 3A Region 7 Champions this past Monday following a 52-46 victory over Pella. The Tigers ended a 13-year drought of making it to state, as they were last there in 2012. In the matchup versus the Dutch, ADM trailed most of the game, but never wavered and finished a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line. Head Coach Trevor Mickelson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he has a group of hard-working young men.

“We just have a lot of really really tough kids. These guys, they never gave up. We kind of have had the mantra of ‘believe that’ all year, that no matter what, we’ve got the guys, we believe in ourselves, in each other as a team, and this is exciting for these guys, exciting for our community, (and) our program. I’m really proud to be around these guys because it’s a great group.”

The Tigers also beat Clarke Community 89-25 in the first game on February 24th, followed by a 70-43 victory against Grinnell on February 27th. ADM will now play Storm Lake this coming Monday at 7:15pm at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
