One Greene County High School student is in her second year of Ram Restaurant and has enjoyed everything about it.

Sophomore Natalie Wright says Ram Restaurant is her favorite class by far and that she really likes being the executive chef because that person gets to make the main dish, they also get to be the person in charge of the kitchen and make sure everything is done correctly. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio each year the culture within Ram Restaurant has been a cohesive one as she explains why a positive environment is needed for that class.

“I feel like you have to get along because some people who are new to the program need a little more critiquing than ones that have done it before. So you have to be a person that gets along and can do that stuff without coming off in a rude and impolite way.”

Wright reveals that switching from trimesters last year to semesters meant that they needed to fill in more days to serve food to the public, as well as shortened class periods from 60 minutes down to 45 minutes makes for the students to prep quicker and serve food faster if there are lots of customers on a particular day. She describes why she continues to be a part of Ram Restaurant.

“Personally, my dream is to go into culinary and own my own restaurant. So I think that this is a really good experience for high school students to be able to experience something that could potentially be a future career.”

Ram Restaurant serves meals from 11:30am-12:30pm on Tuesdays through Thursdays at the high school. You can contact them at 515-386-6102 to place an order and click here to check out the full menu through the rest of the semester.
