The Greene County Community Foundation has received its finalized number of grant applications to be reviewed.

GCCF President Karen Shannon says 29 grant applications have made it through the initial round of reviews for a total request of $410,434. She explains the process that the entire board goes through when considering this year’s 29 applications.

“People who read the grant (application initially) we all circle up and discuss, and we dwindle down, you know because we never in all the years I’ve been a part of (the) community foundation have we had more than enough money. There’s always some that we have to unfortunately say ‘no’ to. And if we have had to say ‘no’ to you in the past, you know maybe that’s something that could come around again this year.”

Shannon adds that about the same amount of money is expected to be given away again this year with $275,000. The awards day for the Greene County Community Foundation is April 6th.
