Perry Track and Field doesn’t appear to be hurting for athletes in 2025. More than 90 athletes have attended practice early in the process. Coach Hardy has seen 40 girls show up to begin the year. That is significant increase from 24 girls last season. In over the decade of coaching for Hardy that’s one of the highest numbers he’s seen. Despite all the girls the team returns no one, who scored points, in field throwing events. “All of our points that were scored by throwers have now been graduated so that’s kind of up in the air as far as throwing events go.” High expectations remain for Lily Myers, Cate Erickson, Treasure Moore, and Taryn Nehring as a relay, but also in individual events.
The Bluejays also have a large group. 50 boys have committed to the team to open the season. First year coach, Jason Lutterman, talks about having the large numbers. “We want everybody to run something but with this many kids that’s not possible. Younger kids, we can mix in for some JV events and some of them are for track so they can get better at football. We’ll get them in the practices working hard and they’re more they’re okay with missing a meet or two.”
Perry track opens the year on March 25 in Ogden.
