A public hearing is coming up soon for next year’s school calendar with the Greene County School District.

Superintendent Brett Abbotts says everything is slated to be similar to this year as far as having two weeks off of school for winter break and one week off for spring break. He notes that the first day of school is scheduled to be August 25th with the final day for students being on May 29th. Abbotts addresses how the school district would decide to add more days onto the end of the school year due to school being cancelled for inclement weather and other reasons to not have school.

“We usually say, we can absorb about three or four, maybe five (cancelled days) before we have to start making the consideration and determination whether or not we’re going to add any student days to the end of our school year.”

The public hearing for the 2025-26 school calendar is at the next regular school board meeting at 5:15pm on March 12th.
