The track and field season is set to begin this week, as an athlete from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School recalls her favorite memory from the team winning the first title in program history.

During the 2024 season, ADM Girls were named the Class 3A Champions, bringing home the first ever title since the three districts joined together. Tiger senior Calli Seehase, who runs the 100 and 200 meters plus long jumps, tells Raccoon Valley Radio how she felt following her final race in the state meet last year.

“So we just finished the 4×100 (meter relay) and we went to go watch the 4×400 (meter relay) girls and we were all so nervous, and like we didn’t really know how they had to place, we were kind of out of the loop, but like we were calculating in our heads and at the end, we were like ‘wait, we won, we won.’ We just started screaming and jumping around, and hugging. It was so fun.”

Seehase reveals that the team is supportive of each other even in practice and that it translates well to a meet. She adds that some of her best friends have come from track and field and is looking forward to her senior year as she’s been working on her running form in the offseason. The first meet for the ADM girls is coming up on Tuesday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for the Dickinson Relays at 2pm.
