Jefferson Matters made the best of the not so great weather conditions when they hosted the Main Street Iowa Spring Workshop this past week.

Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says a group of early arrivals came in Monday night, while a majority of attendees showed up on Tuesday, which the schedule had to be modified due to the winter weather, but he thought everyone that came really enjoyed what the downtown Jefferson historic district had to offer. One highlight Wetrich talks about was how most of the visitors were impressed with the building renovations, with a bulk of them having a partnership with the city of Jefferson.

“I want to say that there’s 55-ish buildings in the Main Street District (and) 40 or so of those, I think (City Administrator) Scott (Peterson) from the city had mentioned that the city has helped at least have a hand in, in the renovation process and keeping them. Because there’s certainly would be buildings downtown that would not be in existence right now if we didn’t have an aggressive city and city council too to keep those alive and going.”

Wetrich thanks everyone who was involved from hosting, to catering meals, to presenting and everything in between to spotlight Jefferson as great as it could be considering the weather conditions.
