An all female organization in downtown Jefferson that has been working on a project for several months is ready to unveil the results to the public.

According to Why Not Us, the group of women that own The Centennial building at 100 East State Street, have announced an open house for the newly renovated two one-bedroom apartments, named The Centennial Suites, on Wednesday from 4-6pm. The organization purchased the building in 2019 and renovated the main floor restaurant that was completed in July of 2022. 

Then Why Not Us received a $453,000 Iowa Economic Development Authority Community Development Block Grant for Upper Story Housing in 2023 to jumpstart the upstairs apartments that have now been completed. Why Not Us says that Jefferson Matters Ambassadors will also be on hand at 4pm to welcome everyone with a ribbon cutting. Applications for renters will be accepted following the open house.
