Paton-Churdan girls and boys track and field coach Kory Jeschke has entered the Rockets in some indoor events for boys at Thursday’s Indoor State Meet at the Lied Student Recreation Center in Ames. This marks the first time in many years the Rockets have entered an indoor meet and the coach said he was motivated by the Class 1A State runner-up finish in the high jump by current sophomore Trevon Keely. That, and the fact there are 12 boys out for the sport, so he has entered some sprint relays for Thursday as well. The girls have seven out and they will not be competing indoors.
The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio, “Quite honestly, Trey doing so well last year at the State Meet kind of sparked some life back into the track program around here and got everybody excited,” The coach added the group of current freshmen boys won two relays in the Rolling Valley Jr. High Meet as eighth graders and finished second in another, so he sees potential there as well.
